ALL ABOUT US

Welcome to Fallen Timber Border Collies, I am Tori Asher and my husband is Lloyd! We both grew up in our small town of Horseshoe Bend in central Idaho where we are now raising our two children, Kaleb and Karter Mae.

We started breeding our dogs simply because we wanted a puppy from our first dog together, Hagen- our Border Collie - Australian Shepherd mix. Hagen was our “baby before we had babies” and he was also the first cow dog my husband had ever owned (and he never wants to go back). I, on the other hand, grew up with border collies and although I have had many of other breeds I was always drawn back to the intelligence of the border collie. So we finally decided to stick with the breed we have loved the most and now aside from Hagen’s grandson (border collie-Aussie mix) & my grandmas 7 lb Yorkie that we swore to take care of for her after she passed, we have all border collies, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Hagen also was the start of Lloyd using our dogs to pack saw gas as their full time job. My husband is a timber faller and our dogs learn to not only listen to their owners to stay safe but they need to pay attention to their surroundings at all times. This has helped our dogs look to us and trust in us when it comes to working cows as well.

My dad uses our dogs to work cows and I am in the process of learning how to work our dogs myself instead of sitting back and watching my dad and the dogs work. Plus the added bonus of quality time with my dad!

Family is huge for us and our dogs are included in our family. Because we include them in our family they are exposed to so many things: other animals, other dogs, strangers, new environments, and most importantly, KIDS. We want to trust our dogs to be with our kids and although we want our kids to know to respect dogs and their space, we do expose our dogs to all the things that can come from having kids around. And the dogs still choose to cuddle up at their sides whenever given the opportunity.
